10 of 54 countries have provider-specific payment records.

A country on an official location list does not establish successful signup, plan access, payment acceptance, or uptime. A missing row is “No information,” not a negative finding. API usage and consumer subscriptions are priced separately.

Inspect all records

The full tables retain recorded units, statuses, source links and dates. Search within a table, or download the complete registers.

How people actually reach a model

A model with a fine price that cannot be paid for is priced at infinity. This layer records subscriptions, free tiers and whether a locally issued card is accepted. Evidence is labelled: "tested" only where a check was performed and dated, otherwise provider documents or reported, and "unclear" wherever no source states the fact.

Official product location lists

These lists report where each named web, mobile, or API product is geographically supported. They do not confirm a successful signup, every feature or plan, local payment acceptance, service uptime, or affordability. The API and consumer-app entries are kept separate.

Figure 1What a million tokens costs, against how capable the model is

Standard workload of 1,000,000 input tokens and 250,000 output tokens, priced at list rates

Cost of the standard workload against capability on one basis for 11 models. Within the top 5-point capability band the same work costs 5.0 times more on the dearest model than on the cheapest; the raw spread across every model priced is 19 times, which reflects product segmentation rather than market access. 2 models are not plotted because they have no score on the restated index.

How this record is kept

The standard workload

Input plus a quarter of output, a defined unit rather than an average bill. Prices are list rates from provider documentation or reporting. A rate card is not a cost: a model that finishes a task in fewer steps can cost less than a cheaper model.

Capability

Scores come from the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. The index was restated in September 2026, so launch-era scores are not comparable with current ones. Each row carries its basis.

Known gaps

The official location lists cover 6 provider-product lists; they describe geographic listing, not signup, local payment, feature-tier access or uptime. A GNI-based workload comparison has values for 52 of 54 countries. The separate minimum-wage comparison covers 8 countries in its declared sample. African providers and locally hosted inference are not yet priced. Device records measure reported changes, not an African price index.

The monitoring feed

Signals are leads to sources, not findings added to the evidence registers.

Collection round · 2026-10-01

Evidence on use, work, costs and compute

This collection preserves each source’s population, period and definition. Estimates, survey responses, vacancies and provider claims remain separate. Coverage is incomplete.

AI use and adoption

Survey percentages describe respondents; telemetry estimates use a different denominator. The five-country employee sample has no country-level breakdown here.
